I know from past experience how hard it is to get your company seen and to win new business, so I'm now building a new community magazine business in my home town to help others.
It really is that simple.
Brightn Magazine is a New Brighton business directory magazine with a difference. With news, reviews, jobs and discounts the Brightn door to door magazine will help companies win new business in these hard times.
What makes us different from other Brighton magazines?
We are different in many ways:
We are distributed door to door, so you don’t have to wait and hope the magazine or newspaper you are paying to advertise in will be bought off the shelf. If readers don't buy it, they won't see your ad, and your money will be wasted.
We are a B5-size glossy magazine, this means you get more room on the page to make sure your advert stands out, and being featured on glossy paper makes everything look really good.
What will you use the money for?
Finding funds to start a business is hard. We're asking you for help to finish the website, finalise the media pack and get our logo finished, but also allow us to gain a co-working desk and do some advertising to announce the launch of the magazine.
I am making sales every day and have no doubt that our magazine will truly be a big hit, but I just need some help to start.

What will you do if you raise more money than you've asked for?
That would be amazing, and there's loads more we could do, including making press announcements, renting a permanent office, supporting the local Brighton community by providing free advertising to charities and special groups, buying new boots for our delivery team, advertising in local newspapers.
Ultimately we will do what we can to support local businesses by buying our services locally, and we'd also like to create more local jobs as we expand.
How much advertising has been sold all ready?
We're thrilled with the early response to what we're trying to do. Around 40% of advertising has all ready been sold, which demonstrates the demand for a magazine like Brightn.
But even though we have sold a fair bit of our first issue of Brightn, that’s currently not our money till we find the last of the advertisers for our first issue; this means we are not allowed to use it
untill we have sent out the first issue, so we do need your help please.
Why are you launching in Brighton?
I love Brighton; I grew up here and have been here ever since. I know every area of Brighton and the creative community in Brighton is amazing. I want to give something back.
Who is distributing the magazine?
We have an 8-strong dedicated distribution team who like meeting new people and will be delivering our new magazine.
Who prints the magazine?
We are working with a media group to help print our magazine at an affordable rate but without compromising on quality.
Why don’t you have an active website?
Because we are a new company I will be building and finishing our new website with the money raised through this campaign. We can then launch the website to help us find the last of the advertisers we need.
What if the magazine does not get delivered and I have paid for advertising?
This will not happen! We are honest and hardworking and care about customer service. We will watch the magazine being printed and as we deliver it ourselves there is no question of it not being delivered. To offer complete reassurance, we also have insurance.
Why not do a smaller, 20,000 circulation magazine?
We went through all the options in detail, we carried out a lot of phone, email and postal market research, and the Brighton public decided that a 100,000 circulation magazine is what they wanted. Research showed they were fed up with advertising in expensive newspapers and off the shelf magazines, and not getting the phone ring for their product or services.
